Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...

Years of Heartflutter Page 358 of 501

In Wei Dekang's eyes, Yang Ce had already become a bloodthirsty devil. Reasoning with a man like that was nonsense. So he could only beg, hoping Yang Ce would show mercy and let him go.

"Oh, spare you?" Yang Ce looked around the room, pretending to size up what might be worth trading for the man's life. In truth, Yang Juehuan had long since made up his mind.

Seeing Yang Juehuan's tone soften, Wei Dekang was overjoyed. "Brother Yang, then tell me—what can I give you for my life? I'll give you anything, as long as you don't kill me."

"The only thing you have that I'd even look at is this company. Here's the deal: transfer all your shares to me, and I'll spare your life," Yang Yanzhou said.

"This..." Wei Dekang's heart lurched. Wanted his company—wasn't that cutting off his means of living for the rest of his days? And the company was so large, the labor of more than half his life. To hand it over so easily now...

"Forget it. I'm not short one company." Yang Ce waved a hand. "Go on and wait for death."

"No!" Wei Dekang cried in alarm. "I'll give it—I'll give you the company. I don't want it anymore. I'll give you everything."

Hearing Yang Yanzhou tell him to wait for death, Wei Dekang nearly frightened his heart out of his chest. He did not doubt for a second the truth of Yang Cenbin's words, because this man before him was plainly a violent maniac—what wouldn't he do?

At that rate, one stomp on his head and he'd be dead on the spot. Compared to his life, what was a company? Wei Dekang was no stubborn fool—while there's green hills, there's no need to fear running out of firewood. Once a man is dead, what use is a company?

True, he could let Wei Jin inherit the estate, but Wei Dekang had not the slightest doubt that Yang Ce might come for Wei Jin next. So weighing the pros and cons, Wei Dekang chose to compromise.

The company was important and valuable, but after losing it Wei Dekang would not be left with nothing—he still had over a hundred million in savings in the bank, enough to live out the rest of his life in ease and comfort.

So thinking this through, Wei Dekang's mood eased considerably.

Yang Jiyan produced the share-transfer agreement that Bao Lin had prepared ahead of time, and tossed it to Wei Dekang. "All right, put your thumbprint on it."

Seeing the share-transfer agreement Yang Ce handed over, Wei Dekang suddenly understood. So Yang Ce had had his eye on the company all along—everything he had done just now had been mere groundwork for this agreement.

But what good was understanding now? He still had to press his thumbprint all the same. With his twisted hand, Wei Dekang dabbed at the ink pad Yang Ce had thrown him and pressed his mark onto the agreement.

Yang Ce glanced over the agreement and, satisfied, tucked it into his pocket.

A true share transfer would be far more complicated than this, but this book is, after all, an urban supernatural tale set in an unknown city, so Old Yu simplified some of the procedures. "Now—you can let me go, right?" Wei Dekang pleaded with Yang Ce, enduring the pain all over his body.

"Come with me." Yang Puqi grabbed Wei Dekang and headed out of the office.

Wei Dekang did not know where Yang Ce was taking him, but he dared not ask, afraid of angering this fiend again—another injury to his body would hardly be worth it.

So Wei Dekang did not dare say much. Yang Ce hauled him into the elevator, and they descended slowly to the ground floor.

Downstairs, where Bao Lin was waiting, Yang Ce flung Wei Dekang heavily to the ground. Wei Dekang saw Old Six Zheng lying there like a corpse, and then saw Bao Lin standing respectfully at Yang Puqi's side. He was, for a moment, bewildered.

"Wei Dekang, oh, Wei Dekang." Bao Lin looked at the sorry state Wei Dekang was in now and could not resist mocking him. "I warned you long ago, but you just wouldn't listen. Now that trouble has come, all I can say is you brought it on yourself."

"Brother Bao." Wei Dekang had never imagined that Bao Lin would show up here in person, and it looked as though he was on very close terms with Yan.

"Don't call me brother. In front of Brother Yang, I'm just a nobody." Bao Lin twisted his mouth.

A nobody—Wei Dekang was secretly alarmed. No way. Then he looked at Yang Ce again and it suddenly dawned on him. Could Yang Ce really be the man behind the curtain? That had to be it—otherwise, why would this guy have been so savage before? So he was a big boss in the underworld all along.

He really had been blind, even deluding himself with fantasies of getting revenge on Yang Ce. At that thought, a wave of despair came over him. But now, saying anything was useless. The most important thing was that he had already gained much just by keeping his life.

"Baozi, tape his mouth shut." Yang Ce pointed at Wei Dekang and ordered Bao Lin.

To be continued.

971. So Brilliant

"Yes, Brother Yang." Bao Lin nodded.

"What are you doing—" Before Wei Dekang could finish asking, Bao Lin had found a roll of tape and sealed his mouth shut, so that he could only make muffled "mmph, mmph" sounds.

Yang Ce glanced at Wei Dekang, then paid him no more attention. Turning to Bao Lin, he asked, "Have you ever used these detonators? How many does it take to kill a man?"

"One or two should do it," Bao Lin said. "I've blasted fish before. These things pack a real punch. Apart from a kind of fish-man that's cultivated to spirit level and won't die from it, small fry and little shrimp get wiped out straight away."

"This won't bring the house down, will it? This building is mine now, and I don't want to be doing repairs the moment I move in." Yang Ce studied the building's structure and asked Bao Lin.

"There shouldn't be a problem. The frame of this building is very solid, and Wei Dekang was in real estate too—he couldn't have turned his own company's project into a shoddy piece of work," Bao Lin said. "And with just one or two detonators, the blast radius won't be too large."

"Good. Then find two detonators and twist the fuses together—leave the two fuses a bit longer between them." Yang Ce gave the order.

"All right." Though he did not know what Yang Ce was up to, Bao Lin did not ask more questions. He followed Yang Ce's instructions and soon had everything ready. "What now?"

"Put one detonator beside Old Six Zheng, and leave the lighter that's to ignite the fuse right next to it," Yang Ce instructed.

"And the other one?" Bao Lin nodded and asked on.

"The other one, shove it in Wei Dekang's crotch." Yang Ce glanced at Wei Dekang as he spoke.

"Haha!" Bao Lin burst out laughing. Truly vicious indeed. He exclaimed in admiration, "Brother Yang, you're absolutely ruthless."

"Mm. I've always been an upright and honorable sort. I didn't even say to shove it straight up his arse." Yang Ce nodded and said without a shred of shame.

"Gah gah!" Bao Lin was stunned for a moment, then laughed himself sick. What a fine idea. How could Bao Lin fail to grasp Yang Ce's meaning? He took a detonator and shoved it straight up Wei Dekang's arse.

"Mmph! Mmph!" Wei Dekang's face was full of terror, his eyes wide, but he could not speak—only make meaningless sounds.

Yang Ce ignored him. He jabbed a few points on Old Six Zheng's body, then stood up and said to Bao Lin, "Let's go."

"Go? Brother Yang, aren't we going to light the detonators before we leave?" Bao Lin was rather puzzled.

"Heh heh. Someone will light them for us soon enough." Yang Ce gave a sinister smile.

Bao Lin did not know what Yang Ce was thinking, but he reckoned Brother Yang could not be wrong. So he nodded, and together with Yan, headed for the building's entrance.

"Mmph! Mmph!" Wei Dekang cried out in terror from behind them, his voice full of bewilderment and despair.

Yang Ce turned back, glanced at Wei Dekang, and a trace of a smile crossed the corner of his mouth. "You want to say, 'Didn't you promise to let me go? Then why are you still putting a detonator on me now?'"
