Chapter 147 — The Long-Awaited...

Years of Heartflutter Page 325 of 501

It took quite a while for Wang Yanqiu's emotions to settle, but she silently resolved that if she got the chance, she would strike Yang Ce down without mercy—at the very least, she would turn him into a eunuch. Otherwise her hatred would never be appeased.

But then Wang Yanqiu realized a very important problem: there were no clothes for her to change into in the bathroom. All her clothes were in the bedroom.

And Yang Ce was still out there, so there was no way for her to get back to the bedroom.

"Yang Ce, go downstairs first. I need to go back to my bedroom to get dressed." Wang Yanqiu tried to make her voice sound as calm as possible so Yang Ce wouldn't sense her murderous intent—even though at this moment she loathed him beyond all reason.

"Oh, all right." Yang Shuoxuan was not the sort to take advantage of someone in a vulnerable moment. What had just happened was purely an accident; Yang Shuoxuan had not expected things to turn out this way. So he agreed readily and headed downstairs.

Wang Yanqiu listened to the footsteps receding outside, waited a long while until there was no sound at all, and only then cautiously opened the bathroom door a crack to peek outside. Sure enough, Yang Juehuan was no longer in the living room.

Wang Yanqiu let out a breath of relief, opened the bathroom door, and dashed toward her bedroom with incredible speed. Once inside, she swiftly locked the bedroom door from the inside.

Wang Yanqiu patted her chest, then began to dress. Tonight, she would make that pervert downstairs pay. She would show him what came of being a philanderer.

Wang Yanqiu thought with bitter resentment.

946. Original Packaging

Yang Ce plopped down on the sofa downstairs, casually turned on the TV, and started watching the news as if he were in his own home.

The local channels were all running stories related to the haunting case, but to avoid causing public panic, the reports were vague—merely reminding citizens to drive carefully at night.

Yang Ce flipped through a few channels but found nothing good on. He was just about to turn off the TV when he heard footsteps coming down the stairs, accompanied by Wang Yanqiu's shrill scolding: "Yang Ce, don't you think you've got some nerve? What do you think this is, your own house?"

Seeing Yang Ce lounging on the sofa watching TV like some lord of the manor, Wang Yanqiu felt another surge of irritation.

Yang Ce turned off the TV awkwardly and said, "I was just bored waiting for you, so I watched a bit of TV."

"Watched a bit? This is my house—don't you know how to behave in someone else's home?" Wang Yanqiu came down the stairs and glared at Yang Ce.

"Hey, after tonight, whose house this is might not be so certain." Yang Ce, irked by Wang Yanqiu's needling, shot back.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Sure enough, Wang Yanqiu's eyebrows shot up when she heard this.

"Nothing much. If you lose, won't you be my lover? Then your house will be my house, won't it?" Yang Ce grinned shamelessly.

"Wait till you win before you talk." Hearing Yang Juehuan's words, Wang Yanqiu had no retort and could only say sullenly, "But if you lose, don't forget what you said—you'll move out overnight."

"Fine, I'll indulge your little fantasy." Yang Ce narrowed his eyes, a slight smile at the corner of his mouth. "Your terms are fair enough, I suppose—except, you know, I've always been a bit of a chauvinist."

"Why are you telling me this?" Wang Yanqiu clearly misunderstood Yang Juehuan's meaning. "I already said, if you win, I'm willing to be your lover, no matter what your personality is like."

"No, no, no." Yang Ce said "no" three times in a row, shook his head, and said to Wang Yanqiu, "You've got it wrong. It's not about whether you can stomach me—it's about whether I can stomach you."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Wang Yanqiu frowned, tossed her still-damp hair, and glared at him.

"Simple. I don't like secondhand goods. If you're original packaging, I'll play with you properly for a night. If not—sorry, your terms hold no appeal whatsoever." Yang Ce shrugged and said flatly.

Hearing Yang Juehuan's words, Wang Yanqiu was stunned at first, then her face flushed slightly and took on an angry expression. At first she didn't understand what Yang Juehuan meant by "original packaging," but after a moment's thought she understood—Yang Ce was asking whether she was a virgin.

"I refuse to answer," Wang Yanqiu said indignantly.

"Well then, since that's the case, I'm leaving. No need for me to play along with your nonsense." As Yang Yanzhou spoke, he made as if to stand up.

Wang Yanqiu panicked immediately. She had gone to such trouble to get Yang Ce to agree to the contest, and she had already thought up a way to deal with Yang Juehuan—how could she let him off so easily?

"Don't go!" Wang Yanqiu said anxiously.

"Why shouldn't I? Looking at you, you're obviously not original packaging. No point in me staying here." Yang Ce stood up and walked toward the door.

"Come back!" Wang Yanqiu shouted in a fit of pique. "I am—I am, all right?"

"Well, of course that's all right." Yang Ce turned around, suppressing a smile, and put on an expression of disbelief. "But I'll have to check, won't I? What if I get cheated?"

Hearing Yang Juehuan's words, Wang Yanqiu nearly exploded with rage. "Get out! I said I am, so I am! If you want to check, wait till you win—then you can check all you like!"

"All right, then I'll trust you this once." Yang Jiyan nodded with a smile. "When's the contest, and where?"

"The outskirts of the city, someplace open." Wang Yanqiu thought for a moment. "Let's go now."

"The outskirts work for me—good for a field fight. I like it." Yang Yu nodded in agreement.

Wang Yanqiu bared her teeth, shot Yang Puqi a disdainful glare, and thought to herself: Dream on. Just wait—then you'll see how formidable I am.

Yang Shuoxuan paid it no mind. In his eyes Wang Yanqiu had already become a lamb waiting to be butchered. Contesting a big bad wolf—wasn't that just offering herself up to be eaten? If I don't eat you today, I'm no big bad wolf at all.

"You won't catch cold like that, will you?" Yang Ce pointed at Wang Yanqiu's hair, still not fully dry. "Don't come up with excuses after you lose, saying you caught cold and weren't at your best."

"Hmph. I never make excuses. My worry is that you'll make them after you lose," Wang Yanqiu snorted.

"What excuse would I make? If I lose, it's just moving house at worst—no big deal, and nobody's going to xx me," Yang Ce said with a chuckle.

"As long as you don't go back on your word." Wang Yanqiu sneered inwardly. Moving house, hmph—when the time comes, you'll be lucky if I don't break both your legs in that contest.

Yang Shuoxuan said no more. If Wang Yanqiu wanted a contest, then a contest it would be—who was afraid of whom?

Once out of Wang Yanqiu's villa, the two got into the car together, and Wang Yanqiu again took the passenger seat. This time she did not put on airs—the outskirts were far, and walking there was plainly unrealistic.

"Drive," Wang Yanqiu said to Yang Yanzhou after closing the door.

Yang Yu nodded and started the car. "Which side of the outskirts? You'd better settle that first. If I just drive and you say it's the wrong spot and you weren't at your best, I won't be able to stand it."

"Hmph, do you take me for that kind of person?" Wang Yanqiu felt Yang Ce was truly mocking her honor and character. "I, Wang Yanqiu, keep my word. I only hope certain people do the same."

"West Star Mountain, then—fewer people there," Yang Yanzhou said. "At this hour, no one should be passing through."

Wang Yanqiu nodded after hearing him. Yang Yanzhou was right—no one should be passing through West Star Mountain at this hour, and they would not be disturbed there. "We'll go there, then. Just don't desert on the eve of battle."

"Me, desert? What a joke." Yang Ce laughed twice and sped the car up.
