Chapter 2581 — Zhuge Junshi Makes His Move

The Blossom Guardian

Wu Chengtian drew a deep breath and closed his eyes to regulate his qi. He was in no mood for a war of words just now—staying alive was what mattered most! He had been far too careless today; never in his wildest dreams had he imagined that a drug dealer would turn out to be an expert of the early Heaven rank!

Still, Wu Chengtian was not overly worried. This was not the first time he had been reduced to a cripple, and he knew that with Wei Zhao at the helm, restoring his strength would be the work of a moment. The real problem was Fatso Lai—what was to be done about him? And how was he to let Wei Zhao know they needed reinforcements?

"I never imagined Zhuge Junshi would be an early Heaven rank expert himself. My apologies for the disrespect." When Wu Chengtian revealed Zhuge Junshi's strength, Fatso Lai was even more appalled. He gave a bitter laugh and said, "Then... shall we discuss our cooperation?"

"Heh. If I weren't an early Heaven rank expert—if I were merely a Mystic rank one—would I be lying dead here today?" Zhuge Junshi said flatly.

"Uh... well..." Fatso Lai was suddenly rather embarrassed.

"It doesn't matter. The world of cultivators is the law of the jungle—I've seen it all before!" Zhuge Junshi waved a hand. "I'm stronger than you now, so I have you right where I want you! Still, in light of your lack of cooperation, I'll be making some changes to our previous terms. Your profit margin will be reduced."

"That... that's no problem, I suppose." Fatso Lai smiled bitterly. "Zhuge Junshi, since it's come to this, let me be frank—I'm just working for someone else. There's a boss behind me, and I can't make the final call on any cooperation. I'll have to ask my boss to step forward."

"The boss behind you? You mean the secular Wu family?" Zhuge Junshi glanced at Wu Chengtian in the corner. Wu Chengtian's appearance had made him think of the Wu family connections behind the Guan Daifu Pharmaceutical Company.

"No. Wu Chengtian and I are both working for the boss." Fatso Lai shook his head, flatly rejecting Zhuge Junshi's guess.

"You're both hired hands?" Zhuge Junshi narrowed his eyes, a sharp glint flashing through them. He had assumed the Guan Daifu Pharmaceutical Company merely had the secular Wu family behind it, but now it seemed that even the young heir of the secular Wu family was working for the boss behind the scenes—which meant this hidden boss was no simple figure. At that thought, he decided to first sound out the strength of this boss. "Very well, then. Since that's the case, bring your boss here. But you're not going to call in outside help again, are you?"

"In a way, yes—and in a way, no. If I can't handle it, then my boss will personally come to discuss cooperation with Zhuge Junshi," Fatso Lai replied.

"Excellent. Make the call," Zhuge Junshi ordered with a wave of his hand.

Fatso Lai said no more and dialed Wei Zhao's number directly.

Wei Zhao had returned late the night before from Songshan City and had not spoken with Han Jingyi after getting home, so he still did not know the terms Right-Disc Tiger had offered in exchange for the data. That morning, he had been about to discuss it with Han Jingyi in the car when his phone rang.

Seeing the caller ID, Wei Zhao found it slightly odd. Fatso Lai—wasn't he abroad negotiating business? Why would he be calling at this hour?

"Hello, Fatso Lai. What's going on?" Wei Zhao answered.

"Boss, something's happened with the pharmaceutical company!" Fatso Lai, making no attempt to hide anything, recounted the whole chain of events in front of Zhuge Junshi—sticking to the facts, without adding any personal color—and finally told him about Wu Chengtian being injured in the fight.

"What! Wu Chengtian was injured?" Wei Zhao was startled by Fatso Lai's account. He was not overly worried about Wu Chengtian himself; what shocked him was that this Zhuge Junshi was an early Heaven rank expert—and, more coincidentally still, that the man was actually called Junshi!

Could this be the Junshi that Brother Dafeng said was sent from the Red Conch headquarters? Given that he was also dealing drugs, it seemed quite likely!

"Yes, boss. What do we do now?" Fatso Lai asked.

"Just wait. I'll come over now," Wei Zhao said. He had decided to meet this Junshi. The man was an early Heaven rank expert, so going there recklessly carried some risk—but it was the only option he had. He could hardly swallow his pride and genuinely cooperate with them, could he?

So risky or not, Wei Zhao had to take the gamble—and besides, if handled properly, the danger should be kept to a minimum!

Apart from the Raging Fire Eight-Trigram Palm, his ultimate move for fighting above his level, Wei Zhao also had Heaven's Net and Earth's Snare! If all else failed, one cast of Heaven's Net and Earth's Snare would pin the man down, Heaven rank or not—and then a Raging Fire Eight-Trigram Palm to the face would settle whether he lived or died!

Of course, if he survived that, there was still the ultimate finishing move—the true qi bomb. Even the toughest would be blown to bits. But Wei Zhao had no intention of using the true qi bomb right away; in a reception room that small, it was a tactic that cost a thousand to the enemy and eight hundred to oneself.

Especially since Wu Chengtian was already half dead, and Fatso Lai was no cultivator. Wei Zhao did not much care if he injured himself in the blast, but it would be no laughing matter if Fatso Lai and Wu Chengtian were blown to death.

"Yaoyao, something's come up at Fatso Lai's company. I need to get back to Songshan City to deal with it. Can you drive everyone to school today?" Wei Zhao asked Gu Mengyao.

"Sure." Gu Mengyao nodded. "You really do love to run yourself ragged—back last night, gone again this morning. If you'd known, you might as well have spent the night at the old villa!"

"Tell me about it. Who'd have guessed everything would pile up at once?" Wei Zhao said with a bitter smile.

With that, Wei Zhao left the villa and drove the Grand Cherokee once more toward Songshan City.

On the road, he dialed Brother Dafeng's number.

"Mr. Lin." Brother Dafeng picked up quickly and spoke respectfully.

"Dafeng, tell me—is the Junshi sent from headquarters the one called Zhuge Junshi?" Wei Zhao asked.

"That's right, Mr. Lin. How did you know?" Brother Dafeng was taken aback. "He's called Zhuge Junshi, all right—shameless, isn't it, taking a name like that? Does he think he's Zhuge Liang from the Three Kingdoms period?"
