Chapter 954 — An Jianwen's Hint

The Blossom Guardian

At that moment Zhao Qibing was at the Lifuyun Bar, attempting a little rehabilitation training. Under the Medicine King's meticulous care, his legs could at last stand and walk again!

The Medicine King's medical skill might not be as formidable as Wei Zhao's, but it was far better than recovering in a hospital! Tang Jucheng had been able to stand and walk long ago; only now could Zhao Qibing do the same.

Still, Zhao Qibing put it down to joy lifting the spirit—good news had made his legs heal this fast! His greatest enemy in Songshan City, Wei Zhao, was finally finished! Zhao Qibing had long counted Wei Zhao as the obstacle and the shackle upon his rise in Songshan City, and he was certain that once Wei Zhao was gone, he would have free rein to stretch his limbs and unfold his grand design!

Nor was he to be blamed for thinking so. Whatever he had done before, it seemed he always managed to get in Wei Zhao's way—he had even run a demolition project right into Wei Zhao's girlfriend's house. What rotten luck!

Heh heh. Wei Zhao, that will teach you to swagger in front of me. Once I've finished trampling the Gu family, I'll go play with your wife! Tang Yun, eh—haha, I've had my eye on her for ages. When that day comes, you won't even have time to cry!

At the thought, Zhao Qibing could not help cackling in delight.

"Brother Arrow, what's happened? What's worth all this celebrating?" Li Cihua asked, stepping in at the sound of his laughter.

"My legs are healed, and Wei Zhao is finished!" Zhao Qibing said excitedly. "By the way, has the Gu family contacted us? What day was the deadline we gave them?"

"Congratulations, Brother Arrow, congratulations indeed! From now on Songshan City will be yours, and you'll be free to spread your wings!" Li Cihua said. "Today is the final deadline we gave Gu Pengzhan!"

"Oh? And they still haven't gotten in touch with us?" Zhao Qibing was growing impatient. For a while now he had been trampled on until he nearly choked with frustration; now that he could finally trample others, he was naturally in a great hurry.

"Mm. Shall I go with the Medicine King later and call on Gu Pengzhan, put a little pressure on him?" Li Cihua asked after a moment's hesitation.

"That'll do. Come and fetch me when you go—I'm coming too!" Zhao Qibing wanted to savor the pleasure of stepping on someone as well.

"Brother Arrow, your legs are healed?" Li Cihua asked hesitantly.

"They're fine. See? All better, aren't they?" Zhao Qibing walked two circles around the room. He had not been in the wheelchair long, so the moment he stood up and tried a bit of rehabilitation training, he was back to normal. "See how smoothly I walk? I can even jog—and I can jump. Watch!"

"Brother Arrow, you're incredible! Ha, I bet Wei Zhao would die of rage if he saw how fast those legs of yours healed!" Li Cihua said.

"That's right—I mean to go and make Wei Zhao angry, and this time I'm going to break his legs. None of you are to help me; I'll do it with my own hands!" Zhao Qibing said.

Zhao Qibing was gloating when his phone rang. He picked it up and saw that it was An Jianwen calling. He thought to himself: has this fellow come to bring me money again?

"Hello? Brother Wen, calling at this hour—is something up?" Zhao Qibing answered.

"Brother Arrow? I have a piece of news I ought to pass on to you!" An Jianwen deliberately lowered his voice. "I hear Gu Pengzhan is trying to run! First thing this morning he went to Gu Mengyao's villa, meaning to take her and flee! I hear the Yu family and the Xiao family have both gone over there already. You'd better hurry too, Brother Arrow—don't let them get away!"

"Oh? Truly?" Zhao Qibing was taken aback. In his heart he was not afraid of Gu Pengzhan slipping off—the monk may run, but the temple cannot. What he wanted was the real estate company. His terms were nothing like those of the Xiao and Yu families: the Xiao family wanted money and businesses, the Yu family wanted the man himself and his shares. They feared Gu Pengzhan would run off with the cash and Gu Mengyao; he did not.

What Zhao Qibing did fear was that Gu Pengzhan did not have that much money. The Xiao family had demanded two hundred million; if Gu Pengzhan didn't have it, he would have to make up the difference with something else—and then the Yu family would certainly refuse. What they wanted, after all, were shares in the Gu Group. They might well decide to fill the gap with assets under his real estate company—and wouldn't he be the one who lost out badly then?

The Xiao and Yu families would hardly simply seize the real estate company outright; they still had to give him a little face. But Zhao Qibing feared they would carry off the land and the properties under that company and leave him with nothing but an empty shell of a real estate firm. What use would that be to him?

And once those assets landed in the pockets of the Yu and Xiao families, he would be too ashamed to go asking for them back, and could only count himself unlucky. After all, this was plundering another man's property—first come, first served!

"Yes. I'm afraid that if you go too late, it will be too late for everything!" An Jianwen said.

"But don't you like Gu Mengyao? Why are you tipping me off?" Zhao Qibing was no fool. He knew An Jianwen was one of Gu Mengyao's suitors. If he himself went after the Gu family and An Jianwen simply ignored it, that would be one thing—but egging him on to be even harsher with them left Zhao Qibing puzzled.

"I like her, but she doesn't like me! She's about to marry into the Yu family. What good is my liking her? If she'd come to me earlier, she wouldn't have come to this pass!" An Jianwen said this on purpose, to inoculate Zhao Qibing in advance. "By then she'll be a daughter-in-law of the Fire Wolf Gang—even the Yu family has to give the Fire Wolf Gang face!"

"True. But the little wench went looking for trouble herself—who else is there to blame?" Hearing this, Zhao Qibing found it made good sense and agreed.

"Ah, I really am a little reluctant to let her go! But you're right: that girl Gu Mengyao went looking for trouble herself, and when things went wrong she didn't come begging to me. What could I do?" An Jianwen said with a sigh.

"All right, Brother Wen, accept what's done and move on. You're a healthy man with two kidneys now—look to the future. There's no shortage of grass at the world's end, so why must you go seeking Mengyao!" Zhao Qibing consoled him.

"Yes. Then I won't disturb you, Brother Arrow. I called you because it was your help that made me a normal man again and restored a man's virility!" An Jianwen said. "Otherwise, why would I meddle in such affairs?"

"I know, I know! Thank you, Brother Wen!" This time Zhao Qibing had no further doubts and believed An Jianwen's words.

After hanging up, Zhao Qibing summoned Li Cihua. "Cihua, I've just had word—Gu Pengzhan means to flee, and the Yu and Xiao families are both already at his door. If we go too late, I'm afraid the spoils will all be carved up by others and we'll come away with nothing!"

"Brother Arrow, then shall we go find Gu Pengzhan right now?" Li Cihua said in alarm.
