Chapter 397 — The Savage Crown Prince

The Herdsman of the Wasteland Page 2 of 2

"That girl Ling'er—she loves to act recklessly, just like the Hierarch!

" Si Yunxiang was frantic; she hurriedly leapt onto the back of the dragon qilin and charged up, lest the little fox be swallowed by the enemy host.

The dragon qilin had barely risen when Ling Yuxiu too landed on its back; the two women looked at each other and said in one voice, "Be careful!

" Boom— The Dawn Ark met the Doubles head-on; the enormous hull was buffeted so violently that it shook without cease.

The Sunherds aboard the Dawn Ark numbered only a hundred thousand or so, while the Doubles were counted in millions, in tens of millions!

Countless demons landed upon the Dawn Ark, and at once a savage slaughter began.

The warriors of the Sunherd clan had drawn in pure yang energy since childhood; their cultivation was immensely deep, their fighting strength terrifying, and above all the strength of their bodies far surpassed other races—even a "child" three or five zhang tall possessed heaven-granted might.

Their magic power too was utterly pure; by nature they refined the pure yang true fire, the true solar fire; their divine arts were wondrous, and their primal weapons were mostly bells, cauldrons, swords, storied towers, and glazed pagodas—very different from Jingping, where blade and sword held sway.

One blow from them met hardly any match, shattering and crushing the Doubles outright; yet the enemy was simply too many. Hundreds of demons, like hornets pouring from a broken nest, swarmed in and drowned Sunherd after Sunherd.

Shh—shh—shh— These Doubles opened their great eyeballs and shot forth ray after ray of demon light, riddling many Sunherd warriors with holes.

Once gravely wounded, a man could no longer escape the mental oppression of the Doubles: hundreds of Doubles would gather, black light streaming from their eyes onto the wounded Sunherd warrior, and his features would twist, his mind and consciousness ceaselessly rewritten, until he could not even keep his own face. His two eyes would rush together, the eyeballs merging into one great eye at the center of his face; his mouth would slide steadily downward, his chin growing longer and longer, until at last he became another Double, and followed the other demons in the slaughter of his own clansmen!

The Sunherd clan chief led several elders in desperate combat; among the Doubles were no few terrifying masters—powerhouses assimilated by the demon race, whose strength was immense—and several of them came charging in bearing demon-god weapons. In the press of battle, the old clan chief looked up and saw a dozen or more giant dragons coiling and fighting in the air, hammering heaven and earth asunder; those flood dragons had drawn off a great many of the Doubles' masters.

Still, the Doubles were far too many, and they kept pouring in without end. "Why has His Highness not struck?

" Hardly had the old clan chief thought this when the Dawn Ark's twelve legs suddenly strode out, step by step toward the edge of the canopy, faster and faster. This ship, vast as a city on land, was actually gathering speed as it rushed at the canopy.

"Your Highness, what are you doing?

" In a fury the old clan chief tore at a Double master, ripping the man bodily in two, and rushed toward the center of the Dawn Ark, crying loudly, "Your Highness, no! " Boom! In an earth-shaking roar, the Dawn Ark smashed the canopy to pieces and burst straight out beyond the compass of Dawnspring! And outside Dawnspring, a colossal Double demon god knelt on both knees, hands propping up its body, its chin thrust into the canopy of Dawnspring.

From its back grew wings made of bone, and those bone wings quivered ceaselessly, beating now and then and stirring up gust after gust of black wind. The instant the Dawn Ark shattered the canopy, it sent him flying.

The demon god hastily beat its pair of bone wings, about to rise—when Shen Mu, at the center of the Dawn Ark, suddenly gathered up the chains, and with a burst of strength swung up the sun in midair. The old clan chief's gaze went blank; he stared as Shen Mu hoisted up the sun of the Sunherd clan and, using the sun as a weapon, smashed it down upon that Double demon god, shattering the demon god to pieces in a single blow!

"Good heavens. .

.

" The old clan chief's legs gave way; his body went limp and he sank down on his backside.

"This Highness of ours is too savage—the moment he sees an opening, he stops at nothing.
